Brooklyn Museum Steinberg Family Sculpture Garden

To accomplish the renovation of the Brooklyn Museum’s Steinberg Sculpture Garden, it was a community effort with old partners and new colleagues to deliver a fresh take on this under-utilized outdoor space. The transformation is now complete and taking on a life of its own in the heart of Brooklyn. The space was transformed through the installation of a long, wood bench composed of locally-sourced solid timbers providing bleacher-like seating for lounging or future museum programming. Long planters were installed at the top of the existing breezeway that surrounds the garden and the rear of the building was refreshed with a coat of paint to match new outdoor furniture. The design is intentionally flexible to provide space for a wide variety of museum events and programming.
