This classic family apartment now includes a modern sense of open space and natural light. We made sure the minimalism and Gilded Age features of this space work together—complementing the original detail with an ebony floor and rift-cut oak veneer doors and panels. Large wood panels now slide into pockets to provide alternate privacy and openness. We constructed a custom kitchen with grey basalt counters, high gloss cabinets and a focal fireplace hearth with original wrought iron components to complete the balance of modern convenience and historic beauty.
